Hi Mythril The best possible judge if the makers mark matches an authentic mark would be you as I can not see it well enough in your photo  makers marks are very hard to photograph trust me I have struggled with that myself. I like KC  said have never seen this style of lusterware from Noritake or Nippon in the past that does not mean it is not so. I personally would not have purchased it because I have not seen this style in any of my Nippon / Noritake antique literature or old ads for them, but I am a VERY cautious buyer. I think the prices from ebay & ruby lane seem fair $25.00 -$30.00  wonderful for a purchase of $3.00 ;D

I think I have a better picture of the stamp :D  I used our scanner with a dark towel draped over it and this is the result.  Its still not the greatest but at least you can sorta read it.

I actually purchased it because it sorta matched the colour/theme of my kitchen and $3.00 was pocket change :)  I still really like it ^_^

Howdy D&b!

Thanks for the heads up.  Forgot about the Larkin Soap Premiums.  Noritake would have never become what it was without Larkin.

I would love to get a hold of the 1933 catalog that has over 6 pages of Noritake premiums and see what they offered other than the Azalea Pattern, etc.  They did have lots of lusterware and art deco items like you said!

After all this I'm starting to have a higher apprication for Noritake.  I have lots of stuff with the Noritake Hallmark, mostly just kind of Fancy Tea Cups and etc,  Somehow considered them Quality, but low on my list of items to pick up.  So Many Noritake items out there.  I will have to go look more into Noritake stuff.  Thank folks for yet another boost in my climb of understanding.  Espicially Thanks to MythrilDelight for posting and starting a great thread.

Hello,

I just joined so have been looking around at some of the questions in this forum. I too have a similar piece from Noritake. Belonged to my grandmother.

I'm kind of surprised to hear that it may be a "fake".  I'm attaching a photo of the piece I have.  I thought mine might be a sugar jar. It seems a bit tall for a jam jar. It's about 4" tall and a little over 3" across. The spoon is glassI researched the Noritake marks and have to say mine looks "authentic" although I am no expert.

I'd appreciate feedback on mine.  Thanks in advance!

Jean

Here's the best I can do.  My camera won't let me get close and keep it clear.  I did check a web site that had samples of Noritake marks and this one matched one.

Thanks for making the effort to try to post a clear image , tngal .

If you do get a clear pic , even from some distance , members here regularly use the 'magnify' feature in their Operating System to enlarge images from their original posted size .

Old guys like me need it to clearly see stuff on posted images too !

Just for information sake...this is a pretty good historical explanation
http://gotheborg.com/marks/noritake.shtml

This is a pretty good site with a download page for fake/forgery marks. The Noritake Collectors Guild

Thank you for looking. And thanks for the info on fake vs. real Nippon marks. I'm pretty sure mine is real based on the description and then looking at mine under a magnifying glass.
