Antique wooden toy mystery

Anyone know this bowling toy's possible age, whether you think it is handmade or not, and it's possible value?

Sometime, somewhere in the last year I read an article on these but I do not remember what they are called...Skittles maybe?  Almost positive they were factory made and English too.
