3 Items Need Identifying:)
« on: August 03, 2010, 06:55:40 pm »
Hello Again.

I have some stuff here that needs some identifying if any of you could help me.

Anyone know what the value of something like this would be? Date? What it is called? I can not find a name on it.^^

This is a music box. The 2 bottles are wine bottles with glasses in the center.( It is missing two glasses) Anyone know the date or value? Maybe even a title of the object?^^

Anyone know what this could be off of? Is it of any value?^^

Hi Diz your last photo looks to be a Packard swan hood ornament.

DizE, you'd be a better judge being able to see your hood ornament from different angles.....

Your end table I would say would be 70's to 80's.  Your decanter set I'm thinking 60's......I passed my uncle's on to one of the kids
(not an accordion, but similar style and musical)

Thanks for the replies.

Sapphire I think you hit the swan right on the head. I'm pretty sure that's the one I have.

As for the End Table. I purchased it for $10 and I am reselling it Friday at auction. Do you think that was a good deal?

If your table is real wood then you likely got your $10 worth. Hard to find them that they aren't laminated.  So many end up at thrift shops and have seen better days. I'd rather pay the few extra $ for one I could refinish if need be then one that my only choice is to throw something over it to cover the marks or missing 'wood grain' looking plastic  ;)

My aunt had that same end table when i was younger, and i believe it was made in the 50's. It is a heavy piece, and for $10 you should get a few bucks more than you paid for it. That was a piece that was not custom or original, but i have not seen too many of that one in such good shape. is the inside in as good shape, no water marks or stains from old liqueur bottles?

It does look like a Gem hood ornament.   I believe you can tell by checking for numbers on the bottom.   The original Packard ornaments had a set of numbers.

The inside looks better than the outside

I would say the table is late 50's or early 60's....leaning towards the later.

You should definitely come out ahead on it then. Even though i can picture that end table in someones house......next to a couch that has a plastic covering on it! That is how i remember how my Aunt had hers! ;D
