Old Stock Certificates. . . Worth Anything?
« on: August 12, 2010, 10:14:43 pm »
I have three Stock Certificate sheets from 1929 and 1930.  They were issued to someone and left with my grandfather.  I eventually inherited them.  They're in really excellent shape, I'd say.  Two are from Holland's Far East Tea, Coffee and Cocoa Corporation for a total of 401 shares of Class A Common Stock, dated 1929.  The other sheet is for 2 shares of Standard Stores, Inc. of Boston MA.  I know nothing about stocks.  Can anyone tell me anything about them or their worth?  Point me in the right direction?  I can post pictures tomorrow.

Here are some pictures which I am sure are hard to read.  Do they help?

According to this site, a certificate for one share (shown) runs #3 on a scale of 1 - 10, presumably in reference to desirability. Clicking back to the Home page may give you more insight into the grading of stock certificates.

The owner of the site actually buys certificates (not to resell). Why not contact him and see if he can help you further with the info you're seeking?

sapphire this information on id'ing and researching old certificates is excellent in the article by invest-faq.

Great thread to add to the information site!

I know.  I tried to make the photos more clear.  I used Macro but that didn't seem to help, either.  I'm just not that great with my camera.
