Telephone or Gossip Chair
« on: September 02, 2010, 12:10:37 pm »
I have this telephone chair that I didn't think was anything special but then I found one very much like it on EBay for 145.00
can anyone tell me any more about it. I have searched on in books and on line and I cant find any info on it.
I don't see any markings on it either.
Thank you

KC

Yours was most likely made in very late 1930's to 1950's.

When telephones were first really introduced into homes and were considered a luxury - not an everyday-take-it-for-granted item like we have today.  It was very special to have one and be able to communicate….thus a special seat for it that usually held the local phone book and writing pad/pen.

In my neck of the woods in pristine shape $55 - $125….not a high demand item…but people do love nostalgia items!

Thanks KC, I was going to sell it for 45.00 till I saw the one on Ebay for more.
Now I think I might have been right in the ball park.
Thanks again

Is the one on eBay selling for $145?  The question is what it will sell for and not what it is worth.  That is two totally different values.  In whatever area you are in, demand is going to set the price.
