Longfellow this book was a gift in 1924........

This book was a gift in 1924. How would I find the true date of the book and it's value. I saw one similar for $100.00 on ebay without the velvet cover.

Voices of the Night (1839)w Ballads and other Poems was first published in 1841. There are many copies of this book published before 1900 that are available for less than $10. For this book to have the value you are looking for it would need to be a first edition or something special. The date should be on a page following the one you showed. I am not a book collector but have many books. I doubt that the velvet cover is from an early edition. Looks like something done in the 1890s for the parlor or what we would call a coffee table book today. JMO.

Thank you.  The only info on that page is unusal. There's no date. It says" This volume contains only the Poems now out of copyright." I've never heard of that before. What I think it means is "Times up and now I'm using your peoms to write a book." lol
