El Salvador Urn or ?? Not sure what this is?
« on: June 17, 2011, 04:05:33 pm »
Hello everyone. This is my first post. I buy storage units at auction and resell the contents.  I found this item and it had a El Salvador Tag on the bottom that fell off in transit. The pictures are as follows: 1. Whole Item  2. View of the lid
Thanks in advance!

Jason   ;)

Welcome to the forum jasn!  Could you take some clear shots of the bottom, inside of the top and urn to show any possible marks.  Is it brass? and what are the measurements?

Thanks for the welcome! :)  The bottom shots are pictured below.  It has velvet on the bottom of the item, the bottom of the lid and the bottom of the inside. It appears to be pottery kilned (sp?) with a golden paint baked on. I had someone look at it and they didn't think it was gold leaf at all. The measurements are 5 and 1/2 inches tall. The diameter at the top is 4 1/2 inches and the bottom is 2 and 1/2 inches.  Hope this helps?  P.S. If you click on the pictures they enlarge to fit your entire screen. And it weighs about 3lbs (and yes that is the empty weight...lol)

Appears to be a high fired pottery piece, probably a souvenier from someones trip there !! Since you said it had a tag that fell off that would make me think that it probably a newer tourist item !!
