Silver Painted Pottery
« on: September 26, 2011, 11:19:47 pm »
Hi all!  Bought this little ceramic glazed and silver painted compote (?) or footed bowl/dish.  It has crazing consistent with age on the inside & bottom, which are cream.  It is 3.25" tall x 3.5" diameter mouth & base.  3" deep from inside.  No markings whatsoever.  Anyone have any idea what this is, as far as origin, date, style, maker, or anything else at all would be much appreciated!  Thx for lookin'!  :)

your piece was made by Swetye Ceramic Artware - Salem, Ohio Joseph Swetye  Started in 1946  known for using gold and silver palladium finishes. Sold primarily to florists,  Height of production was in the  late 40's and 50's.    :)

If you see a "G", it could be this too. This is silver with a white bird. It's similar to your glaze.

Thanks, greenacres.  I ended up finding multiple of the Swetye items after Wendy mentioned it that are identical to mine, so it's definitely a Swetye (some of them that are identical have the bottom stamps of Swetye).  But thanks all!
