Gold & White Signed Teapot 1911 or 1916

Hi all!  Got this little teapot, the bottom is signed "K.J.B." and either "1911" or "1916" (I'm not sure if the circle was a mistake or intentionally part of a 6).  There is also a very, very faint number stamped in the bottom that is either:  263, 268, or 26B.  Really hard to photograph.  There is also a "1" marked by the signature.  The flowers are definitely hand painted.

I've searched a lot on this one and have come up with nothing.  Does anyone have any ideas?

It's 5.5"H w/lid.

I'm not the expert on glassware here, but I believe what you have is a chocolate pot.  In my experience, they are tall and thin like this.

Since your pot is marked in the handwriting of the person that made it and not impressed in the mold or raised on the surface, nor is it a company mark,,we can assume that it was made by someone as a hobby piece and not part of a particular company line !!

Wow, Mart, you make an interesting point.  What about the "268" on the bottom, though, it looks like it was stamped in as the typeface looks too perfect.  Why might someone stamp the bottom of their piece like that?

Also, do y'all think that is a 1911, or a 1916?

Just killing time but I saw your post and if you don't mind me putting my opinion on this, I think it started as a 1910 or 910. It looks to me like they changed the 0 to a 1 and lengthened the 9 and 1. Notice the double stroke on them. Might be the year but I'm thinking a form or mold #. But I've been wrong on more than one occasion

Good point lindasguy! Putting a slash through a zero was common as well so could be 1910.

There is a company that used the mark 0/1911. Overbeck Pottery, Cambridge City, U.S.A. Art pottery, 1911-1955. You could check that out. I got the info from a pottery markings book.

268 was the mold number !!  If someone wanted to make one like that they looked on the bottom, got the mold number and then found the mold with same number !!  The molds are just big blocks of ceramic with a hole in the top to pour the liquid in,,after they cure in the mold they are taken out as greenware and are then ready to finish !! Each mold has a number that corresponds with the number on the china piece !! Used to go to a hobby shop to get art supplies and they had hundreds of china, ceramic molds and fired their own pieces !! China/ceramic painting was a booming hobby years ago !! Did have a bunch of pattern books but gave them to a lady that did china painting !!

And if I am guessing correctly,, and KJB is anything like me,, she/he probably did the pot after Jan 1 of 1911 !! So she put 1910 and then realizing it was wrong changed the last number to a 1 and went over the others so it would be darker and sort of look alike !!

Ah...that makes a lot of sense!     I've had those "oh darn it" moments myself--usually takes me a few months to stop mistakenly writing the wrong year, let alone in January!--I guess some things never change!
