Need help with this vase
« on: October 17, 2011, 05:17:11 pm »
About a year ago me and my mom where at a yard sale and she spotted the vase pictured below. She payed a dollar for it and we don't know noting about it. There is no marks on it or anything. I don't know if it is made in China or in the Czech Republic. ;D It is about 14 inches tall and is quite heavy. Can anyone please help? Sorry for the dusty table. ;D

Tracking down a maker on Crystal vases can be very hard, usually you have to go by style and hope for the best.  When I look at yours I would first start with Mikasa, sure looks like something they would do.  I'll go poke a bit and see too, It has nice shape and looks to be very unique, Mikasa tends to make a lot of items that look Art Deco and Art Novea period but are modern and well made items.  Thanks for posting.

Did you check the bottom of the vase with a magnifying glass to see if you can find any letters, numbers or other markings?  With glass sometimes they are hard to spot with the naked eye.

I agree with ironlord that the crystal/clear glass stuff can be really hard to identify.  Since you can see it in 3D, it's probably easier for you than us to determine what that pattern is in it so you can use descriptive keywords to search for it...does it look like peacock feathers?  Vines?  Dots?  Also measuring it can assist in your search...with crystal the more descriptive the better in searching, so adding the measurement to your search engine searches can help narrow things down somewhat at times.
