??Regarding Tiffany Reproductions
« on: October 27, 2011, 10:00:38 am »
I purchased an estate back in 1980 that included this lamp. The estate was that of an elderly Lady that had never married, and had no local family, so I was unable to get any history. The lamp looked old then, and still does, with a worn cloth cord and Leviton sockets. I've always assumed that the lamp is a reproduction, but I'm curious...when did 'signed" Tiffany reproductions first start showing up on the market?

The shade is 20" in diameter, and the lamp measures 24" tall. The bronze base is unsigned, but the shade has a tiny tag with a number and stamped: "Tiffany Studios, New York".

Thanks!

Check that base really well,, with a magnifying glass for a foundry mark !! It doen`t look like a repro to me !! Its very consistant with Tiffany`s work !!  Let me do a bit of checking on this !!

Doesn't really look like a fake to me. If that's a real Tiffany lamp, you've got a goldmine. I just watched an episode of roadshow that had a similar lamp without the shade and it was worth some outrageous amount, over $40,000. Might have even been closer to $80,000. I seriously hope that's real, with the shade it would be worth so much more! Good luck!

When I search "Tiffany Studios Daffodils" I see your shade multiple times and it is listed as authentic. I have no idea if someone copied the exact same shade or not, seems doubtful! Get a hands-on appraisal by an expert, I am leaning towards it being real!

Tiffany studios did use paper labels it should also have LCT and the number scratched in somewhere along that edge !!  That is the correct placement of Tiffany`s mark !!  What is that number ??
