old saw blade... 1800's?

Hi everybody! I bought this earlier in the summer for $15 and recently saw a more modern version sell on ebay for over $150!! The teeth on mine look like an old 1800's two man saw I have so Im guessing on the age. was hoping someone could tell me how old this is and how lucky I got for $15   measures 29" across. Thanks!!

Looks like the size of an old buzz saw blade. I think most of the newer ones have "insert teeth" that can be replaced.



I wonder if anyone today is still capable of using a doghead hammer to "tension" a circular saw blade?

As a kid I worked on a sawmill in SE Kansas.  And yes, the blade had removable teeth.  IIRC a little over 2" long.  A lot of the old saws are used by amateur and semi-professional cutlers to grind knife blades from.

These are a bit "black velvet Elvis", but at area crafts shows, local artists do some good work on these.  And yes, I've seen them on very large blades as well.

I have one in my garage now that I have been planning to paint a western scene on for the last 3 or 4 years that is about the same size !!  I think mine came from a one man gas powered sawmill !! You can also find sawmills that attach to the PTO of a tractor !! Mine does not have detachable teeth !! The teeth and their depth and shape depend on what you are trying to cut !! Yours would be for a rough cut I think !! The shallower the teeth the finer the cut !!
