Help with very old chair i have inherited please

Hi i have just been given this chair and i need some info about it, like period and value and cost of repairs as it has a slight split in one of legs

Can`t tell much from your pic !!  But it appears to be possibly English from the barley twist design, late Victorian period 1910, 1920 or so !!  You will have to take a close up of the damage to the leg !!  Simple cracks usually can be repaired with no great problem !!

Can you please post a pic of the underside/construction?  Kind of hard to tell from the pic as Mart indicated.
