1920's? American? thick-cut crystal vase value, brand, year?
« on: March 01, 2012, 05:06:36 pm »
I have been trying to find a pattern like this one online for quite a while now, and I am at a loss. Has anyone seen a vase like this? As far as i can tell, it is American-made, and probably from the 1920's. Any insight or sources would be greatly appreciated thanks!

Can you tell if the piece is entirely cut or partially pressed? Look very carefully for a name on it. They can be almost invisable to the naked eye often etched into the bottom near the base where there would be a little room. Also on the bottom or the top edge. It looks completely cut in the picture but kind of dull. That could be the exposure. I believe the pattern is called daisy and button. It looks like a good piece of brilliant period cut glass from here.

yeah that's the best picture i could get, but it is much clearer in person. it appears to be completely cut. As for a name, I wasn't able to find one. I'll clean it up a little and see if that helps!

The pattern is called Daisy and Button, almost every glass company used this pattern.  It is a pressed Glass Pattern, and would not be considered as Cut Crystal.   This pattern was most popular in the EAPG era, but is still used even today.

Totally agree with Ironlord.  Have several vases myself that we received from family over the years.  That $40 on the link above would be a little high for todays market in my area...these aren't rare.  All variations, composing these patterns, can be found.

It's always good to have some vases around!!!!  Enjoy!

I'm from the South - but please don't mistake my Southern Manners/Accent/Charm as a weakness!
