Who is this Lady on this Johnson Bros England Plate?
« on: March 30, 2012, 08:42:28 pm »
OK, this is probably another dumb question of mine but who is the Lady on this Plate? Also, is this an early 1900's Plate and does it have any real value?

Oh, the white trim on the hat and the "V" neck on the dress are hand painted with raised white paint of some type if that helps.

Thanks!
Kevin

No question is a dumb question! It's Martha Washington. :)
I'm not very good with dating marks but maybe someone else can date it!

That's who I thought it was!  :D But then I thought, what is Martha doing on an England Plate, Export I thought, but then, perhaps not.

Thanks!

Looks like same  plate but different person !! There are a lot of portrait plates in different styles !!  The one above dates it by the mark to 1913 !!  Try googling " collecting portrait plates"  for info !!

Johnson Bros. and others made many styles of these plates over the years !!  Some are worth more than others but most range in the $25. to $35. catagory !!  Could be less with todays market !!
