Half an hour ago a candlelight procession through downtown Halifax took place as the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic approaches in a few hours. The largest number of victims are buried in three cemeteries throughout the city and this past month there have been many opportunities for those who wished to learn more about the Titanic's history and tragedy as well as the part Nova Scotians played in retrieving victims and in some joyous occasions, survivors. While we have always had a permanent Titanic exhibit and received much interest in the Halifax connection, this recent time has seen the most concerted effort to tell the story in hopes that it will be remembered by future generations. And that those buried here will never be forgotten.
