Red Crown Thermometer
« on: May 20, 2012, 02:18:54 pm »
"Cleaning" out the bedroom and moved this out of a corner. It's porcelain, measures 6'-0" tall, patented 1915, perfect finish and working condition. I looked on eBay and didn't find any like this. Any idea what they are going for at the present time?
Thanks

This might help you Rauville !! The one shown there is not in near as good condition as yours and they said $600. to $900. I would think yours would go at least $1200. or better !!  Some places there to get more current info !! Didn`t look to see when they posted that one !!

that is awesome! and valuable! just remember, when and if you decide to sell it, you can NOT ship it (at least via usps) and probably other shipping companys because of the mercury content. that is also why you didnt see any comps on ebay. you arent even allowed to sell mercury thermometers on ebay. try craigslist or a different site that allows it. good luck and you have an awesome peice!

I'm afraid I probably couldn't add enough drama to the show to make it worth their effort.

Thanks everyone for the information!

I can't tell from the picture but most of those had red alcohol in them and not mercury. If that is the case them selling on line or shipping would not be an issue. Mercury is silver and generally used in science and medicine. Red thermometers are colored alcohol and used for outdoor and indoor air temperatures.
