antique rockers, worth anything?
« on: July 22, 2012, 12:06:13 am »
These came with the house I just bought, I have doubles of them.  A friend of mine thought they were worth something, just looking to see if somebody can tell me anything about them?

Please and thank you!

Definitely been reupholstered.  Comfy set!

I'm from the South - but please don't mistake my Southern Manners/Accent/Charm as a weakness!

"Americana." Well, at least you know the name of the model! :)

I"ll stick with mid-century. Unfortunately, rockers of any era tend not to be worth as much as you'd hope.

Don't feel bad at $20.00.

My wife has a walnut hoop-skirt rocker that belonged to her great-great grandmother, and I've got one made of ash that belonged to my great grandmother. Both have been restored, including the stitch caning, and we'd be VERY lucky to even get $200 for each of them. Probably more like $150 on a good day.

I love rockers, they are really under appreciated. Maybe consider keeping this as a nice little porch rocker?

After "dens" went out of fashion many used these on porches, decks or garden rooms !!

I do love a good rocker. I agree that they're under appreciated. Cute set.
