So true - upstate really means north of NYC. I grew up in Sullivan County - heart of the Borscht Belt as it was known for many years. Huge resorts known around the world. They are now all closed and falling down. Sad. Currently 2 hours north right outside our State's Capital of Albany - still "upstate" LOL
