Is this for Ice Fishing
« on: August 11, 2012, 10:51:53 am »
Another vintage fishing find. I am starting to get hooked on them. NPI My first thought was this is an ice fishing pole. I am familiar with tip ups where when a fish took the bait a flag popped up. There was an arm across the hole so the device would not be pulled in. This has a fold up wire stand and a line winder. If a fish grabbed it while free standing it would get yanked into the hole. Maybe that's why I never saw one. They are all under water. It is 39 inches long and is made of what looks like fiberglass. The handle is wood. The guides are wire rather than wrapped. Thanks

Thats a wierd one !!  That stand would sure be easier for catfish than me having to cut a forked twig to keep tip up !!
If the guides are wire only  salt water would eat them up pretty quick wouldn`t it ??
