This is a cut crystal glass stein I purchased a few weeks ago. At least I think it's a stein but the lid is missing. There is engraving near the top with a line that says "0.5L". There is also a cut in the glass handle that looks like it was where a lid was attached at one time (it may not have been original to the stein).
The stein is roughly 6 inches in height by about 2 3/4 inches wide on the top and about 3 1/2 inches wide on the bottom. It has as no seams in the glass and it looks like cut crystal to me.
The bottom looks like it had been ground and polished smooth after it was cut and is flat and if it were placed on a bar that was wet it would slide down it very easily. Looks to me like this stein may have been made sometime in the 1800's possibly in Germany, not sure. The lid may have had a makers mark that could have helped identify it.
Does anyone know where this stein may have been made and roughly when it may have been made? I haven't been able to find another cut crystal one like it.
Thanks!
Kevin
