i think its from 60`s or 70`s !!  ceramics were big business then and many items like this were made by hobbyists !! there are/were thousands of molds of every type imaginable !!  another reason i give that date is the painting method !!  glaze and dry brush was used by everyone starting ceramics as a hobby !!  the glaze was put on first, then the accent color was dry brushed on the highlights,, simple to learn and to do !!  then it was fired and they all meld together !!  that why only the initials on the bottom !! they were hobbyists,, not doing it as a business where a name was important !!

Hi Mart,

Yes I remember those days well - only I didn't get into ceramics but instead chose plaster crafting. I still have a few items I made.  I think the design is unique enough - especially now that I know where it came from.

I did hear back from the lady on Etsy which was the only one I found with same scenes.  She sold it in 2009 for $32

This Biscuit Barrjavascript:void(0);el/ would appeal to buyers in Scotland,of that i,m sure,...especially around January...which is when we commemorate Rabbie Burns Birthday...and Tam.O Shanter is well known to Burns lovers....yes this could do quite well,...after all,at $1....anything above is profit...and even if it only fetched $32...thats 300% profit, then,...if you were able to buy something similar every other day,for $1 and make a small profit.......
I make no excuses,and no apologies....but i like a good Malt,

Good idea about selling in Jan , big !

Perhaps could be mis-marketed as a 'haggis-holder' ?

As it has a well known Scottish theme on it...Its a Biscuit Barrel....and advertising it over here as a cookie jar....well....a cookie over here is a small cake..not a biscuit....and you won,t get many small cakes in that jar...definition of Jar....clear glass container for holding Jam...hence Jam Jar.....i,ll keep you right!!  LOL

hahaha haven't been on in a few days.  Love that we have these side conversations - fun, laughs and learning all at once.  Doesn't get better than that!   8)
