Vintage Ceramic / Chalkware Snowman Piggy Bank?
« on: September 08, 2012, 04:43:22 pm »
I purchased this Snowman Piggy Bank yesterday and can't find another like him. He looks very familiar but I can't place his identity or find him. It's made of ceramic and hand painted, chalk ware perhaps (correct me if I am wrong please).

He's about 6 inches in height, about 4 1/2 inches wide at the widest point and the base is about 3 inches in width. There is some writing and marking on the bottom that I can't make out.

Does anyone know the vintage, maker, who he actually is (Snowman?) and perhaps what the markings say or are?

Thanks for any help!
Kevin

Try looking under American Bisque.
I'm from the South - but please don't mistake my Southern Manners/Accent/Charm as a weakness!

Thanks KC, certainly looks like it's American Bisque, and I've included American Bisque and other keywords and he still eludes me. The hunt continues....

Wow sapphire, you found him, a lot of him, thanks! Although, I have to wonder now how long American bisque made those snowmen? The black paint and other areas look so shinny and new. Are those air brushed?

Maybe that was the writing on the bottom "American Bisque".

Thanks to KC for pin pointing American Bisque! Spot on Target!

And a special thanks to greenacres for Frosty The Snowman!

And no coconuts for the wullie, was napping on this one....  :P    :D

Thanks again...
