Frogpatch, I love those beds.  Much fancier than a typical Murphy bed the ones I have seen.

Went in an antique store last year and there was a Victorian one that looked like an ornate fireplace mantle - way before Murphy beds were around!  I immediately went to the counter to ask how much it was...and it had just been sold for $300!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This one sold for $4200 - alot like the one I saw

AND.....they even made fold out Piano beds in the late 1800's for the parlors!

Definitely not a bed for the restless sleeper.  Could play quite the tune while you snored.  :D

Amazing what people came up with and the amount of artistry that went into something so utilitarian.  Love them!
