I appreciate it! :)
I love auctions/antique stores! I love old photos & books. This is the best group on the internet. :) I try to get on often, but I've had 2 brain surgeries & a back surgery. The pain is awful so I don't get on as often as I would like. It doesn't take away my love of old stuff.

Best wishes for a successful recovery!

I wanted to add a comment about the subjects determining the value. Post-mortem photos are becoming popular with collectors. So are animal photos and of course anything with a Civil War soldier, especially one who is identified. The more unusual and appealing the subject is, the more collectors want it. Fancy cases also affect the price. You can get a good sense of price from the daguerreotypes on Ebay. Standard, unidentified portraits don't command such a high price unless the subject is very good looking and dressed to the nines.

I was watching the post-mortem pictures on eBay for a while and the bidding is crazy! They're very hot right now.
