Vintage (?) wooden book display
« on: October 19, 2012, 01:01:17 pm »
Hi folks! found this at the local Salvation Army thrift store and was wondering how old it might be and if these have any value. Alot of the detailing looks hand done. Thanks in advance

I've seen similar ones from the phillipines ca. 1970s & 80s. The value is negligable.

I see these listed on Ebay as 'bible stands' or 'cookbook stands'. I ran across them when I was looking for supports for my family bible.

Agree they were popular in the 70's onward.  You can still buy them in import stores in big box malls.

It's more than likely from Northern Africa. They are commonly used as cook book holders. I recently had a client that asked me to sell one. Turns out, it wasn't even worth ten dollars. And come to think of it, did you find it in Orange County, Ca? Because it looks very similar to the one I tried to sell a couple of months ago.
Take every price I say with a grain of salt...
