American rug ?

Own this very nice rug and has been said it's early American made . Who knows some more and maybe a value ?

It looks like native American...possibly Navajo??,...its along these lines..i,m sure, but, i,ll leave it to the non natives to to give there view....

I would say Mexico is as close as this rug has ever been to America. One rule to remember, is that the fringe is a dead giveaway that it's something other than Navajo. And the other thing, is that the Navajo are not cotton farmers. ;)

Agree with Rauville !! These are commonly known as rag rugs here !!  I have a rug of the same weave that my dog sleeps on !! No hand weaving there !!  Back looks like the ones made in Mexico for saddle blankets !!

Generally these were made of cotton as indicated above.  Agree they were called rag rugs (still are) AND the fringe is a dead give away.
I'm from the South - but please don't mistake my Southern Manners/Accent/Charm as a weakness!
