Avrils Auction Junk?
« on: November 11, 2012, 04:52:25 am »
We were at a general auction yesterday...most of what gets sold there come,s from deceased,s estate,s..
so i suppose this is what you guys call an estate sale...Avril bid on a box of what we call bric-a brac...which is a job lot of miscellaneous goods...there were china plates, a pitcher with bowl,a tea set,a cookie jar, and this...its as you can see a porcelain ornament...it is a limited edition Giuseppe Armani, Mare with foal,..its called First Days, its a Capo-de monte..and the back stamp, has 127/1500 and the N logo as well as a C within a circle and the date 1996 Florence...it sits on a brown marbled plinth...and is in pristine condition...the cost inc buyers premium was £18 for everything...i found one on Worthpoint that sold in 2009 that had a start price of $790...but don,t know what the actual sale price was?...i,ll post more pics of what was in the box...i tried to post 3 pics but they failed to load..i,ll try 1 at a time
I make no excuses,and no apologies....but i like a good Malt,

more from the box,the coffee pot is 10in tall, and has been over glazed, the 2 x tiles are Minton...they are 6in x 6in but one is 3/4in thick, the pitcher/bowl has made in Italy...as does the tray and leaves with the strawberry, the little bird is a metal sugar sifter..the plate is a wedgewood, there are 2 of them....there,s lots more..but these pieces are the best of the box

I would love to find a box like that !!  Especially that first one with the mare and foal !!  But I don`t have a horse that color !!  I have 2 gray, a buckskin, 2 paints and a bay !! Good excuse to buy another one I guess !!

this auction house has a sale once a month...and, you can easily buy 4/5 boxes of  bric a brac for under £20..but its pot luck as to what you get...but having said that,i know a guy who makes a decent living...selling what he buys,..at car boot sales...and on ebay....I will be selling this capo de monte...as i don,t particularly like them...and whatever i get...will give me funds for the next auction.....

Yea this is what I do,  I have a auction house near that every two week I go.  I buy things and then sell them so I can go buy more, don't make a living at it yet, but pays to the thrill of the Auction House.

Right you are, Bigwull, ..... when asked what I did I would tell them .....

"I buy junk, good ole junk .... and sell antiques and collectibles".
