The date that is on it is not the year it was made !! How would you know the country it came from if it isn`t marked ?? Not trying to do a "got cha`" here but,, would it be likely that a person so skilled in carving wood would do a lousy job with the year ?? These have been imported and brought back from vacations for years so the best anyone can do is guess at the origin !! My feeling is its from Germany but there is absolutely no basis for it,,, just a guess !! Could just as easily be from somewhere here in the states !!
