Dining Set
« on: March 24, 2013, 06:25:06 am »
I just bought this dining set from Craigslist and I am interested to learn more about it. While value is obviously interesting to know I am more interested in age and other details. I was told that it was purchased at a barn sale in 1978 from an elderly lady that said she received it as a wedding gift (don't know when). It's in pretty good shape and the table has a pop-up leaf. It appears to be burled walnut on the top...not sure about the legs. Speaking of the legs, they are shaped in an interesting way. I'm not well-versed in antiques...I just bought it because I thought it was nice and it was only $125 for the set. If anyone has any opinions on the piece I would love to hear them. Based on a little research I am leaning towards 1930's due to the Art Deco look of it. Thanks everyone!

Nice set! I'd (more or less) line up with Mart and say late 1940s.

Very handsome, and a bargain at the price you paid.

Looking at those legs...i,d say it could be Art Deco...or the tail end of the period...one things for sure...this set would,nt end up in my woodburner....
I make no excuses,and no apologies....but i like a good Malt,

Chairs say late deco too.

Nice set that. Wouldn't be surprised if it was a fairly well known make.
