Looks like quartz and iron pyrite, among other things.

We do use "stream" here in the U.S.

In some areas they call it a "crick" In New York State its a "'kill". To me a brook is where brook trout live and a stream is where other trout live as in a trout stream. It is a fishing thing.

Yepper...iron pyrite!  Doesn't it thrill you to find it though?

Ah so, the memories, .... nothing could be finer than a hooked jawed Brookie a "dancing" on the water of a "babbling" brook or a "meandering" stream.

And here ae a few of my "things" that have hooked onto quite a few Brook trout.

It's eerie that you posted this cogar. I was in 'my' thrift shop day before yesterday and in the collectibles section was a case of hand tied flies. My very first thought was 'Omg, I bet Wayward would love these!"  :(
