Piano piece
« on: April 21, 2013, 08:27:42 pm »
Old piano piece.   Im thinking of scrapping it.  Thought I'd check to see if it has any value before I do?

Overall, I'd say scrap is your best bet.

Nope!!not kidding...if this is made of metal, then it could be cut diagonally from top right down and the lower section hung,...i,ve seen similar things over her, billed as contemporary Art...with big buck values...

Thanks everyone for the replies...  and a lil bit of humor!   Funny about the wall sculpture.  Looks i'll be recycling some old metal.  It is ferous (a magnet will stick to it) and yes it weighs around 200 lbs,

Yepper, its cast iron. Has to be, otherwise the tension of the piano wire would collapse it.

I agree with Bigwull...Once pieces like this hit the scrapyard, they are gone forever. You couldn't afford to hire someone to take a piano apart for what you would get in old iron price. I can visualize this as decorative art in a roadhouse along the way someplace. :)

Yes I can see this hanging on a wall, with perhaps, a little plaque..saying..."One slightly distorted Baby Grand Piano"...something akin to Mike Oldfield, .."slightly distorted guitar" ;D
