Grandfather's collection

So, my Grandfather recently passed away and he left behind quite the collection of interesting items.  My mother is trying to resolve the issues with California and his estate, so she asked me to look into all of his curiosities to see if they would have value to anyone out there.  I have uploaded several dozen pictures to my public flickr page, and I was hoping some people would be willing to take a look.  I don't have the slightest idea where to start.  I don't even know what to type in google to get started on this stuff!  If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to comment on the picture itself or here.  I really do appreciate any info you all can give me!  Thank you so much and I hope you enjoy some of the things my Grandfather collected!

May i just say..your late grandfather had good taste....but...post ing 143 pics of hundreds of items...and then asking us to give appraisals, or finding..out what they are worth...could be a never ending task...may i suggest you post perhaps 2 at a time..or else ...we won,t know if we are coming or going...furthermore, i see on some pics, you have posted pics of the backstamps....this is what we need..but on the majority of the items..its just a pic....

I don't expect anyone to appraise every single item.  I would, however, be extremely grateful if anyone would take 5 minutes and quickly browse through the pics on flickr and simply let me know if there is anything there that looks familiar and a hint as to where to begin my research. For example, "hey, I know what all those faces on the wall are ... those are called 'such and such'". That would be wonderful if anyone were so inclined. There are 141 pictures of just a few dozen items, most pictures are duplicates.  Thanks for looking and thanks for any info you can give.

Then you pick out 1 of those 141 pictures and upload it to this forum or post an "image displaying" hyperlink to it ...... with a request for opinions on the item in the picture.

Otherwise you should find yourself a hands-on appraiser.

Hint:

Like Wullie said, this is a nice collection. I would find a specialist in far eastern art and get an appraisal of the lot, the worth of which will probably run into the thousands of $. After that you can decide if you want to sell the lot with an auctioneer, sell it on consignment, or whatever.

We would be happy to help but as I am on dial up,, I can`t even see the pics !! We need them posted to this site !!  We usually request that each post be limited to 2 or three items !!  Then it doesn`t overwhelm us to the point that we forget which one we are looking for !!

The statues of the shishi and lion are great, if not antique, and doubtless have value.
The mirror and shibayama style screens would also sell well to interior designers / bar and restaurant owners.
The okimonos and figures look 20th century but are sellable ( although in the UK i would question as to whether the ivory ones were made prior to 1947 - they don't look it )
Figures like the one of Hotei ( the fat laughing " buddha " ) are very common.

The diecast cars are ideal for Ebay though too modern for many collectors.

The Villanis figure is a later casting

The propellor was discontinued in 2003 - not sure on value

The Atmos clock i would keep but it's worth about £500-700
