They don't seem to be well articulated and worn enough to be Hubleys.

True enough. Sadly, when you paint a Hubley you lower the value so much that you might as well have a fake. Lose/lose.

Tell me about it.....when i first looked at them..my first thought was ..there, resin....Avril,...is like that...if it looks scabby...she,ll turn her nose up at it,..and she,s even worse when it comes to tin food or any food for that matter,...if the sell by date is out by 1 second...its in the bin...just recently a friend of mine sent me a mature Gouda cheese,...now this cheese, smelt...big time, but it was perfect....for anyone..except Avril,...it arrived on a Tuesday morning..all the way from Holland,...i put it in the outside cupboard...i.e. mesh vent to outside my big mistake was,i forgot to mention it to her Majesty...on the Friday..I went to the cupboard,...No cheese...when Avril came home..I asked her, where she,d put my cheese....."Oh!..i dumped it as it was smelling".......needless to say an argument ensued...and..try as i might i could not convince her..that it was perfectly ok....

A sad story. It's too bad that she shut herself - and you - off from your friend's thoughtful gift.
