Black asian large center piece
« on: June 11, 2013, 09:27:26 am »
I not sure what this made of. This very heavy. It's 16 1/2 inches around with no name. I think it's from the 70's. I'm not sure. What do you think it is?

That's Pier, lol It wasn't. They weren't around then. I know when it was bought and it was the 70's. She usually bought these things in the top floor of Wanamaker's. Back in the day it was very fancy. They had the Russian Tea Room. It's been in several movies. Really old building in town with organs on the balcony, and they had a giant bronze eagle statue on the first floor. The building still exists, but the store doesn't.

It maybe an import. I was curious if it had a specific name. My grandmother usually bought things that were of high quality. But maybe this was not one of them. I have it put away right now. I rotate things that are out sometimes because I like a change up every now and then.

it does have a specific name.....matt black porcelain....what more specific can you get......as for Grandma buying expensive items?.....well,....Grandma.s were notorious for telling little porkies.....when it came to the re-telling of stories about what they bought when they were young....I can remember my Gran telling me...."Oh!....Billy....this cost me a weeks wages when i bought it.......i later found out...that her weeks wages was worth £1...in 1935.....so when it comes to what old Grandma bought....i,d take it with a pinch of salt ;D

;D ;D ;D I used to shop with her when I was I was little. I remember my grandfather getting so mad because she would spend so much. She would take me to Saks and we could get whatever we wanted. I remember I wanted these platform shoes. They were $29. It could have been late 60's early 70's. That was a lot in those days. Boy, did they hurt my feet, lol. She was a good women. Whether this is good or not doesn't matter. It's my curiosity that killed the cat. ;D ;D Thank you for the help. I feel better now.
