Sheboygan Chair Company chair
« on: September 03, 2013, 06:31:03 pm »
I have a chair made by the Sheboygan Chair Company.  I am wondering if anyone may know how old it is and if so how much it is worth.  I'm not sure what kind of chair, maybe a dining chair.  On the bottom is a tag that is nailed on with the company name and made of cotton and tow printed on it.  Handwritten is the chair number 3281 and the order number 9344.  Any information would be appreciated!  Thanks

Hi there and welcome to the forum !! We can`t guess a value without seeing the chair !! Can you post a pic of it !! Rarely will a single dining chair from 20th century be worth very much but we are happy to take a look !!

It is a ladder back dining chair most likely from 1940`s or 50`s !!  The link will give you a short history of the company !! It went through many name changes over the years !! Down at the bottom there is a link to some of their catalogues !!

Great! Thank you for replies. I just needed to know if it was worth anything before I get rid of it.

About 20 bucks if you are lucky !!  However you can take that cover off and cut a hole in the bottom big enough for a large flower pot, Shabby Chic it with a bit of paint and then sell it for about $65. !!

Shabby chic is all the rage. Unfortunately I buy it from other people because I don't have time to do it myself. The chair matches nicely with a Kroehler vanity that I have. I think I will just pair it with that and sell it off that way. Thank you for all your help.
