A Request from your Moderator
« on: September 23, 2013, 10:51:40 pm »
My dears,

I have fought with myself about if I should say something to all of you or not, and think that the time has come.

I would like to ask that everyone put a little more effort into being kind and polite to others on this forum.
People come here seeking help and advice, not to be ridiculed or have a joke made at their expense. Let's show a little more compassion for beginners and expect a little more professionalism of ourselves.

Thanks gang.

YEAH! BE SWEET! A bit of humor or sharp debate is great however, when it crosses a certain threshold, no fun at all.

Actually no one incident, just an on-going general deterioration of basic politeness over time. It's been eating away at me for months and it was time to unleash my inner Miss Manners and say something.

Fine ideas , all IMO , talesof (& everybody else) .

Kinda makes me think of a very early post from you (talesof) with the sheep image & the 'how do you like me now' caption  ;D ;D ;D !

I was an admin on a discussion board in the 90's (boy , things have changed since then) where we'd inserted a clause in the T.O.U. that pledged to be 'civil' with the penalty of gettin' tossed out on the ear , should one choose to not "recant/reform/repent/quit it" (etc) .

Glad you've posted about the potent issue & I'll try to do my best to not put on the Grumpy Boots (when posting , anyways) !

Sugar beats vinegar (although they can be mixed to be more 'interesting' to the palate) , even with those folks who are having tilted halos ... or flies !

Hello and best regards to everyone!
Thank you Moderator for your post. I have used this forum and found the people replying to me to be very helpful AND polite! Thank goodness there is a place to come back to because I have experienced major rudeness at other forums
I'm getting ready to post pictures and questions as I am prerparing to sell art and vintage/antique items. I am looking forward to your experts and their opinion!
Sincerely!
kdj
