Okay icedgold10, this is funny!!  I have the VERY SAME ONE!!!!  It was my grandmother's and she gave it to me many many years ago.  Mine never had a lid though!  It was a open vase!

Can't get the pics to load to the computer right now but will post pics as soon as they do!!!

However, mine has the Iimport identification tag on it  TOYO Japan and $40 price on it.  The mark is found under Japanese pottery marks, Shiba ta To-ki - "Shibata Porcelain", Late 20th century.

However, the mark on mine is older looking - matches the one on the Gothberg site.  Yours looks newer and colors are brighter, more colorful than the ones on min.

Having studied these pics of this "Ginger Jar"..cos that,s what it looks like,I,m of the opinion that KC,s,may not be as old as she thinks,...no more than yours Ice,...it looks like its been sitting in the sun too long.and the colours have faded,...therefore, just stick yours on a sun facing window ledge, and leave it for the next 10 years or so..and it too will look like hers.. :D.

Actually the room that my grandmother had it in for over 50 years had no window/light (before that I am not sure)!  :O  And the cabinet I've had it in for the past 23+ years is without a light!

I am positive she got it in in early 1930.  She wanted to sell it at a Garden Club Sale (thus the tag for $$) and decided to still hold on to hit!!!

Well, in that case..why don,t you put it in the sunlight Ice, and we,ll all meet back here in 10 years time...and then we will see if there is any notable difference... ;D
