Blue & white Horse/Donkey

Hi
I was wondering if anyone could tell me any info on this piece?
I haven't been able to find out from the makers mark any info about it, the only similar marks i spotted are of French pieces from the mid 18th century, if it was that would be nice!

It is a touch under 9 inches high, and just under 7 inches long, it has a really nice weight and feels very solid and well made, it is not symmetrical when you look front on, so my thoughts that is not made in 2 halves together.

It  has a small hole under its belly, no idea the reason for it.

It looks hand painted as it area's it is quite crude, wonky lines etc especially on the base (which is a very nice base i think!).
The base has a fair amount of ware so does that indicate that it could be of a decent age?...or it could be modern and worthless!

Any thoughts or information would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Dean

My guess is Dean that you are in the UK ?

Looks like a fairly modern repro of a Delft pottery horse. If you google Delft horse or Delft paard you'll see more of them

I'll try and find the mark but my guess is it's inconsequential.

Hi

Thanks for your reply, yeah i am in the UK.
I see with the Delft on google, thought i was on to something good but looks like i'm not now!
Will see if i can hunt the mark down and find a date for it.
Thanks

Beat me to it Ipcress!  Looks like a Delft piece.

Holes were left in pieces so that they don't explode during firing.
I'm from the South - but please don't mistake my Southern Manners/Accent/Charm as a weakness!
