Acid is acid,, try the cider vinegar but on a Q-tip !! If it cleans a small spot then do the rest !! Also might try plain white toothpaste on a soft cloth & see if that will remove it !! It looks like a typical example of "dirty glass" to me !!
Acid..is Acid!!....Noooooooooooooo o.....Not the kind i took, it came in pill form..and made you see things that were,nt there.... ;D

Nothing helped. Baking soda and vinegar...nope. Tooth paste...nope.

Here are more pics. What I think is that the blue and green highlights are still on the inside, but the gold has been worn or eroded off (probably, as hubby says, from having a plastic plant pot in there) except for the rim, which didn't touch the pot. Therefore, it now looks dingy.

That last pic shows it perfectly...the "ring around the collar" on the inside, below the line of the lip of the basket.

I am going to leave as is.  I love it, anyway!

Looks like someone kept a plant in it and watered.. I don't want to be the doom and gloom queen, but I don't think it will come off. Bottle people would use oil to bring back shine to it. If you rub the inside it will dissappear.

G-acres,

That was hubby's theory--the plant. What kind of oil will help rejuvenate it?

True, just a rag with a slight amount of oil and rub over it (buff it) should help alot.  I also do this with my sinks and shower!  Makes soap and mineral buildup almost nil!

Clever KC. I'll have to try that with the shower. Dogaman they pretty much covered the bases with oil.

Thanks everyone for the input and suggestions. Since it appears, from my online research, that this MIGHT be a rarer piece, I'll just oil the inside every other day and see how it looks in a week or so.

Again, Thanks!!!!

Greetings,

Thought I would post some new pics of the Dugan after 2 days of virgin olive oil treatment.  I lightly oiled it and let it set for two days on top of the china cabinet so it could get air circulation. Then I re-oiled it today.

The first pic is what I originally posted. The second and third were taken tonight in front of puter but with the flash, as was the first.

It looks like it was just dried out. The discoloration has totally disappeared and it now glistens! Thanks all!

I was browsing around on David Doty's site and found this:

So, this is a KEEPER! Not bad for $17.00!

Thanks, again, everyone for your help!
