Dragon and Lotus footed plate
« on: January 18, 2014, 02:52:38 pm »
Greetings,

While 'shopping' today, hubby and I stumbled on a Dragon and Lotus footed plate, maybe 8" across. I don't remember the color, but think it was either blue or amethyst. The price was $150 or $180.  Have been trying to research the current 'going' price, but can't find anything. I have no pics. The condition was clean--no scratches or chips.

Any idea of a price range?

Thanks.

A footed plate or a footed bowl??  ??? ???

I need to see  picture of it.

Try a Google "Image" search for a picture of it.

Cogar,

It was flat with a slightly raised outer edge. Carnival Heaven lists that as an "Ice Cream Bowl". I have an old flip phone and no way to send pics. Sorry. :(

This is a pic that closely matches the shape. http://www.carnivalglass.com/Carnival/Dragon%20and%20Lotus%20%2807928%29.JPG

Concerning the one I found, I wouldn't call it "Electric", but it did have a lot of gold in the iridescence.

Wull,

Yup, looked at all those and researched David Doty and Carnival Heaven.  I need to find a job so I can afford to upgrade my phone!!!!

Wull,

Shape-wise, yes. But not the colors. The one that I was looking at had more gold and not much red.  I will mull (pun intended) over. If I decide to pop for it and it isn't there, then it wasn't meant to be.

searching, searching...found this one, which is close to the coloring.

Looked at sooo much stuff today, can't really be sure if it was spatula footed or merely collar footed on the bottom. But from everything I've looked at on the internet, the 'collared' bottoms go from about $50.00 to $125.00. Hubby and I have decided that if it is still there the next time we go, we'll ask what would be their best price--maybe offer $100.00.

IMHO
The internet has made trying to find a bargain in carnival glass much more difficult when shopping. Too many dealers price their wares after a quick peek at ebay to check the highest listing prices.

Rauville,

I have checked completed sales on the internet and used David Doty and Warman's. I have done my homework on Carnival Heaven, as well. When we go again, I'll take a second--more educated look--and go from there.

I agree...internet has caused lots of things to be over priced. In the end, so long as I can get more than what I paid and not go into the hole, I'm ahead of the game. Of course, I haven't sold anything yet. lol
