Help identifying antique dresser (tallboy?)
« on: February 03, 2014, 08:43:46 pm »
Hi everyone! I am new here: I'm trying to learn more about the antique dresser or maybe tall boy that I inherited from my grandfather. I have literally no idea how old it is. I would love any information you might be able to glean from pictures! Thank you all!

Best,
Kate

A shot of the inside of the drawer could gives us a bit of a clue, I am not a furniture expert by no means but based on the foot it appears to be a high end depression era piece.  Need to see how the drawer are put together i.e. does it have dovetail joints, and are they hand made.  A good overall shot of the dresser will also help.  Thanks for posting and have a great day.

Ok, thank you for replying! There are dovetail joints on the drawers, and they appear (to me) to be machine made because they are super uniform. Here is an inside drawer shot and a whole piece shot.

What is your location ?? UK or here in the U.S. ??  Cant see the dovetails on inside drawer shot !! Can you take one from the outside where the drawer sides attach to front ??  This appears to be an English made piece late 20`s or early 30`s !!

Reminds me of piece that you would expect to see in a Tudor Revival style home here in the Midwest dating back to the 1920's.
