Antique mantle clock
« on: March 01, 2014, 09:44:23 pm »
This is a Herman Miller mantle clock. I've done a lot of research and found he is most popular for high end furniture. His son Howard is the clock guy! My question is has anybody seen this clock before, found similar but not this one. Sorry one pic at a time :(

Oh !!  Sorry didn`t look at the name on the first one !! What about it have you not found out ?? Or what specific information did you want ?? Keep in mind that Howard Miller was a clockmaker,, not necessarily a case maker !! Often the cases we made by other companies !! The case is not what values a clock,, its the clock itself !!

http://www.howardmiller.com/

Howard Miller owns Kieninger Company of Germany,,they made the movements  !! It is a Black Forest company in business since 1912 !! I think this site has a look up service for their clocks !!  Could be why it says Miller/Germany rather than Howard Miller because they were making the clocks for them rather than the clock being made by them !!

How do you know it is Hermann ??  Herman Miller Clock Co. division of Herman Miller office furniture was founded in 1926 and everything made carried that name until 1937 when Howard changed the name to Howard Miller Clock Company !!

And what is that supposed to mean !!  Everything between 1926 and 1937 was made under Herman Miller Clock Company as I said above !! That is from their website !! In 1937 Howard Miller changed the name of the clock company to reflect his name since Herman was in the furniture business !! So if your clock was made before 1937 it shoud have Herman Miller Clock company since he founded the company !!
