Late 19th, first decade of the 20th. Guangxu period.  The finial is a Shishi ( i despise the oft used term " Dog Of Fu " because their is no such thing ). Might possibly have been one of a pair.

What's with the dirt / sand ?

thx again ipcress  im a lot wiser now. I don't know why its covered with sand, it came like that.
I thought first its a fake because of the sand. Thought maybe they wanted it to look old or a ground find

Have to admit it would be a concern but it looks fine from the photos.

I generally call them koro's.

Hi, I really think this is a modern product that wants to look old. So much sand on Chinese antiques is not a good sign at all. Mat

I know them to be Chinese Koros as well Ipcress.

This is an interesting one.  Seen them made of bronze, jade, soapstone, hardstone, marble,etc...but this sandy look is interesting.
