« on: May 23, 2003, 11:05:45 am »
hi, i have just received a gold ring, that might  be from the early 1920's, it is amythest  the stone sits in a crown like setting with a rope surronding the crown with a leaf like piece attached to the rope at four quarters,  it is stamped on the outside on either side of the crown 14k with a stamp of a "B" or an "S" as well.  I'm not sure.  This is the first time i've tried to identify it.  any help?  The stone is about is about an inch in size and 3/4 wide, it is a rather large substantial ring

it would not be in your best interest. to try to give you a value on your ring site unseen. amethyst is a purple variety of quartz. it's property's were believed to protect the wearer from drunkenness and increase intellect. in the 19 century. it was also accepted as a mourning stone.it appear's to be a vintage 1920's.
