Satin Twist Candlestick Age
« on: May 14, 2014, 11:24:07 am »
This was a "why would you buy that?" from my wife. It was only 3.00 and I thought it was nice even if there was only one. The lady I bought it from bought two of them at an antique shop 10 or more years ago. She paid around 40.00 for them and dropped one. It is 12 inches approximately and very smooth satin glass. It is a three part mold. The picture of the base will show a depression glass like design but I feel it may be older from the size and weight. I looked at pages of twisted stem candlesticks online but could not find a hexagonal base with a design. I was hoping someone may recognize it so I can have my bragging rights back over my wife. I can provide a picture of the bottom if needed. There are no mfg marks.

I liked it because it was big and can stand alone. Thanks. I feel bad for her that she dropped one and broke it.

It is a pressed piece. I would think Steuben would be blown. I was thinking more like Tiffin or Westmoreland. The picture is deceiving. It is just a simple twist. The design is showing though from the other side

Here is a great site that I found while looking. It had over 100,000 pix
