Had to share this week's "find".
« on: May 17, 2014, 03:56:42 pm »
Greetings,

I know it's been a long time since I have posted here, but I do browse every day or so.

Anyway, I wanted to share this week's flea market find:  a Central Glass Co. Vaseline glass compote.  The pattern is ribbed rope, and it dates from the late 1800's.  The picture below is taken with sunlight only...and you can see the uranium glow!

Just wanted to share!  Hope everyone is doing well!

Frog,

Thanks! Here's a pic under the black light. The "solid" pieces are Fenton. Hubby's collection is growing!

Mart,

Yes, I still do CG. And have gotten some nice finds. Mostly mislabeled items that the dealer didn't take the time to properly research.

But it has evolved into other areas. Hubby has, indeed, discovered Uranium glass. And he has a few true Vaseline pieces. The one featured being the latest find.

We stumbled across a local man liquidating a hoarder's stash and we get items at crazy low prices. (This one cost us $2.14!) And because of that, we have expanded into colored depression and pressed glass, and crystal.  From Fenton to Moser to Westmoreland.

I have plastic totes FILLED with antique glassware. And am now selling in a local Antique Mall. We have been at that only 2 weeks, so really don't know where it will go. Am pondering opening our own Antique Mall in about 5 years. Hubby and I aren't getting any younger, ya know! Giggle.

What is that "crimped" piece at the bottom right.

Cogar,

It is Dugan's Ski Star Peach Opalescence Ruffle Bowl. It is only 6" in diameter. It has the Compass design on the exterior.

Nice find!  Love Vaseline glass!  My cousin will be Green with envy.  She collects quite alot and has always wanted to find a large compote that was still in great shape. (So many have flea bites and major chips.)

Glad to hear you are starting selling.  Let us know how that goes!  :)

Thanks, Dogaman, I thought it might be opalescent  but it was looking really "white" to me in the first picture almost like it was "cased".
