Beautiful plant stand question
« on: May 15, 2005, 08:51:52 pm »
Hello everyone -
I am new to these forums and am hoping for some information. I purchased a plant stand today and have (thus far) been unable to determine it's age or origin. I known nothing about metals but was told that it is probably wrought iron. A few facts about the plant stand:
- It is black (not shimmery, just black).
- It is about 4' tall (maybe a few more inches).
- It has 5 tiers that match (sort of tear shaped) with the top tier being a rectangle.
- The tiers spiral up (looks like a spiral staircase).
- The base is quite large (not solid) and consists of a ring to which 4 separate legs (very pretty, curved and curled at the end) are attached.
- There is a single rod that extends through the entire center of the stand. Each tier connects via a sing firmly connected ring (not sure if I explained that right!).
- There are very pretty decorations tiering up with the actual tiers.

Is there anything else that would be helpful? I will be taking pictures tomorrow. Can you all help me? Thank you so much!

Hi garden....we will help, and your description though helpful is not as good as a photo. Too many variations that can determing age and value.
