Need help valuing/identifying blow horn
« on: August 12, 2014, 01:36:01 pm »
Hello all!

Attached below is an image of a blow horn with three distinctive red dots. It was bought by a friend of mine who owns a shop. I am unsure of exactly what it is or what it is worth, if anything. At one point it was said to be in a special/custom-made case, however the case was not included in the purchase. I have been told it's a possible knockoff. It's in great shape and could have been made in Thailand.

This is all I know about the piece. I have done some research around the web but it's hard to come up with anything substantive considering I do not know what I am looking at. If anyone could help identify this piece, I would be very grateful. I am also interested in any possible value as well.

If you have any questions, requests, opinions...anything at all, please let me know.

It does look recently made! There very well may be nothing antique about it.

Yes, I have searched eBay and with the limited info/items I have been able to locate, it seems to be a battle call horn (or a replica). However, I have not been able to find or identify anything close to what I have as far as looks go. Also, a lot of the battle call/blow horn items I've seen listed on eBay have not been properly identified by the seller. It seems, like me, they have a general idea of what they have but aren't really sure and are listing it just to see what it will go for. I will also say the ones I have seen listed on eBay and have found around the web don't seem to have near as much detail and don't look to be in near as good condition. This leads me to believe this could be a replica/fake.

With that said, from my limited research, it definitely doesn't seem like an easily identifiable item.

Thanks for your input.
