Chinese Mirror?
« on: December 15, 2014, 03:12:50 pm »
Hello Everyone!

I'm curious about the age and origin of this mirror.  I'm not sure if it's new made to look old or it is new.  The construction looks like mortise and tenon with a couple nails.  The mirror is held in place by wooden tabs that slide in and out of the frame.  Any help would be great.

Thanks!

Is the clouding along the outside edge of the mirror just the pic ?? I don`t see any waving or irregularity in the mirror other than that !! Looks pretty even and clear !!

The clouding is just dirt.  It needs to be cleaned.  The mirror itself looks new.  I was thinking maybe the original broke and was replaced.  That is if the wood frame is old.

I would guess late 30`s or 40`s when much of the Chinese Chippendale furniture was being reproduced !!  But get other members opinions !!  They may see something that I do not !! That black paint on the back is what I am going on !!
